Government FAQ
PRIVATE SECTOR ORGANIZATIONS
SDVOSB stands for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. First Generation is one of only a handful of vendors with this designation on the Government Services Administration (GSA) Schedule (541). Becoming a certified government supplier requires an extensive, in-depth process of financial statements, work history, and more—a testament to the credible, trustworthy service you will receive from First Generation.
Executive Order 13360 requires that the federal government give three percent of the total value of all prime contract and subcontract awards to SDVOSB agencies each fiscal year. Government contracting officers may restrict competition to SDVOSB companies and award a sole source or set-aside contract to SDVOSB to meet this requirement. Any business conducted with First Generation as a vendor allows you to fulfill the government contractual set-aside requirement.
Stability – Private sector organizations can be confident that First Generation, along with its 32-year history, is a reliable partner desiring to build long-standing relationships with your company. Most government contracts are three to five year projects, meaning steady cash flow for our agency as well as our clients, and consistent staffing for the government. Polished Procedures and Processes – First Generation’s workflow and quality control processes are carefully evaluated in order to be an approved government contractor. These same processes are applied to every project, ensuring a high standard of excellence. Growth – Companies involved in government contracting start out with smaller contracts and work towards larger and larger contract awards. As First Generation prepares for long term growth in the expanding Federal Government marketplace, our private sector clients also benefit from our increasing staff and expertise.
Private sector organizations often do business with the federal government, employing government sales and public affairs staff who handle this type of work. Partnering with First Generation as a vendor with SDVOSB designation will make their bids and proposals more likely to be recognized and accepted.
